You are under care… What about your kids?!

The nervous system controls ALL body functions! This is why pressure or pinching of the nerves can be devastating to overall health. Nerve pressure is caused by one or more spinal misalignment(s). If nerve pressure can negatively impact the health of an adult… imagine the damaging effects to the developing nervous system in a growing child.

Upper Cervical misalignments in children and infants can present as:

  • Interference with brain and nerve development (neural plasticity)
  • ADD/ADHD:  1. poor attention to details / easily distracted  2. unintentionally making careless mistakes  3. poor concentration and memory  5. not listening or following instructions  6. hyperactivity
  • Autism spectrum disorders
  • Ear infections
  • Colic or crying with arching back
  • Bed wetting
  • Asthma or breathing difficulties
  • Allergies
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Nursing or latching difficulties
  • Digestion issues or spitting up
  • Bad attitude / mood swings / irritability
  • Behavioral disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Immune deficiencies
  • Headaches
  • Growing pains
  • Scoliosis
  • Neck or back pain

HOW DOES a misalignment happen?

The Upper Cervical Spine has the greatest range of motion and is most delicate portion of the spine. These two characteristics make it the most likely location for problems to arise from vulnerability to injury and stress. Misalignments in children are most commonly caused by the birth process, falling down, poor or prolonged posture, stomach sleeping, toxic load, poor food choices / dehydration, and stress / anxiety. “Children fall an estimated 5,000 times while learning how to walk!” –The American Journal of Pediatric Medicine. This is 5,000 potential causes of misalignment, and childhood misalignments build up in the body over a lifetime. “When we appreciate how important the nervous system is and how easily it can be hindered and impaired, it makes sense that more parents are having their child’s spine and nervous system assessed.” —uppercervicalcare.com

Upper Cervical Care is for newborn babies too! A day old newborn is a preferred patient because the birth process is frequently the very first spinal stressor! Even with the most natural of births, the baby’s head withstands physical pressure from the mother, an estimated 60-90 pounds. This extreme force can cause the baby’s neck to twist or bend, often resulting in a neck misalignment. “Nearly 80% of all children are born with blocked or reduced nerve impulses due to a misalignment of the top bone in the spine called the atlas.” –Dr. Gutmann, The Journal of Manual Medicine. From his findings, Dr. Gutmann concluded that the blocked nerve impulses can cause motor and developmental impairments, as well as lowered resistance to infections, especially ear, nose and throat infections.

Adjustments on infants are gentle enough for them to sleep through their appointment, and the parent never leaves their child’s side. Correcting the spine does not require any bending, twisting or popping, and only the slightest amount of pressure is used to accommodate an infant’s small, gentle bones. In their first year of life… a baby’s brain TRIPLES in size and the spine lengthens by 50%! Growth is happening extremely fast! And the nervous system, which controls growth, needs to be functioning optimally for proper development. “90% of the stimulation and nutrition of the brain is generated by movement of the spine.” –Dr. Roger Sperry, Brain Researcher and Nobel Prize Winner. We recommend having a newborn checked within 30 days of birth, scheduling a recheck once the child lifts their own head, and having a second recheck once sitting and crawling. Once conquering these fundamental stages, two checks a year is ideal. If there is an accident or injury, further evaluation will be needed. “For the first time, Lillian is keeping her meals down. She is gaining weight and is such a happy baby now!” –Jessica, Mom of Lillian, 6 months old.

A HAPPIER AND HEALTHIER LIFE for your little ones!

The ICPA surveyed parents about their children’s experience after seeing a chiropractor. Parents reported  1. behavioral improvements  2. improved sleep  3. stronger overall immune systems. Mood swings or behavioral disorders are caused by chemical imbalances; chiropractic care restores these chemical imbalances. By removing the signal interference caused by a misalignment, your child’s brain is given the chance to send out proper, coordinated signals to the body. This often leads to:

  • Growth
  • Improved grades, posture and sleep
  • Better athletic performance and fewer sports injuries
  • Missing less school
  • Reduction in behavior problems or irritability
  • Improved interpersonal relationships with friends, family and teachers
  • Reducing or eliminating medication
  • Reduced incidence of colds, ear infections and illness
  • Fewer allergies
  • Overall HAPPINESS

In addition to immediate results, chiropractic care also serves as preventive treatment; both are of equal importance! Staying in alignment throughout the developmental years can prevent degenerative bone and joint diseases like Osteoporosis. Picture straightening a small tree growing crooked versus correcting a mature tree after it is full grown; the earlier a misalignment is corrected, the better! “Many parents think that their children are healthy and don’t need chiropractic care; when in reality, chiropractic can be the edge to help them grow up even stronger, healthier and smarter!” –Kids Report
